About OptiAnimal

Background

The first time we, Pia and Kajsa, met was in 2004, in the middle of dead and dissected horses. We had both trained as certified Equine Sports Massage Therapists in parallel with our regular jobs, and now acquainted with the university course ‘The horse’s musculoskeletal system – structure and function (5 credits) at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. We quickly noticed that we had a common basic view of horse breeding where the animal’s best interests should always come first. Besides, we were incredibly curious. What does it take for the horse to feel good and perform optimally?

When we met again many years later, we discussed the negative trends we saw in today’s horse handling and breeding and how we could influence. We got the idea of taking advantage of the digital world to improve the horse’s welfare. We decided that we just had to develop such a solution – as it didn’t exist.
By the use of technology and data OptiAnimal will contribute to healthier, happier and more sustainable horses, which in turn give even more joy in horse ownership.
